Structure-Property Relationships in AHSS

Our group is interested in the development of structure-property relationships in advanced engineering materials. We recently examined structure-property relationships in bainitic steels.  The microstructures were characterized at multiple length scales in order to better understand the factors contributing to strength and damage.  Particular emphasis was placed on the effect of deformation (ausforming) on the bainite transformation kinetics and morphology as well as the effect of an applied stress on the phase transformation kinetics.  Other collaborations include the development of structure-property relationships in sintered and additively manufactured materials and collaborations on the structure-property relationships in 7xxx series alloys.
